AZ/TLA is entering its eleventh year of providing professional development opportunities to Arizona schools/school districts.

The 2003 – 2004 consortium involved 23 Arizona public school districts and education agencies, adopting AZ/TLA’s mission:

 “to develop the expertise of members regarding performance-based teaching, learning, and assessment, and related educational practices which includes research, product development and staff development activities.”

The 2003 – 2004 season invested in developing an AZ/TLA faculty, expert teachers in math, reading, and writing, who planned and delivered professional development to over 300 teachers.  The planning and debriefing sessions for the AZ/TLA faculty and Steering Committee members were two days.  The professional development days were held as two successive days in early January.  Our summer academies are also scheduled for June, July and August, 2004.  Plans for the 2004 – 2005 professional development season are already underway.
